Kilkenny dance teacher is leading lady at Lord of the Dance

At 02 Dublin this week,Micheal Flatley and his dance troupes amazed the fans by their performance.Alongside Micheal, Kilkenny dance teacher Bernadette Flynn as leading lady also steal the show by her blissful performance.

Bernadette Flynn has been his leading lady for the past 14 years and is the only original cast member to accompany Flatley on this tour.She is originally from Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

According to Kilkenny husband he said that she was very excited to perform in front of home crowd in Dublin as she knew it would be a very special experience for her.

“I am very excited to dance again,” Flatley added. “I’ve created many shows but Lord of the Dance has a special place in my heart and I haven’t performed in it since 1998.”

In the farewall tour he made the hall lively when he created and together with a cast of 40 nimble-footed dancers he made sure it went out with a lot of noise.

The Lord Of The Dance reverberates with Riverdance echoes. We have the twin violin playing Barbie Dolls, the often scantily clad girls including Bernadette Flynn-O'Kane and Kelly Hendry for dads and the handsome lads led by Tom Cunningham for drooling mums. Monks with flaming torches feature while chanteuse Deidre Shannon makes the old chestnut, Once I Dwelt In Marble Halls, as fresh as paint.

The Creator Of Lord Of The Dance Returns....!!

Micheal Flatley, the creator of the Lord of The Dane show is returning to his role in the production for the first time in 12 years, which has played to more than 60 million people since its creation in 1996.

The show goes on tour around the UK and Europe this autumn - but BBC News was given exclusive access to rehearsals, to speak to Michael Flatley as he prepared for his return.

A LORD OF THE DANCE

Alistair Spalding, chief executive of Sadler’s Wells, says:

We have lots of international dancers from all over the world coming to Sadler’s Wells and the ones who are best on and off stage are the Latin Americans. It’s basically about what they do with their hips and how they’re centred.

How you move your main torso is crucial and you shouldn’t be flailing your arms around. The best way to move well is by being in control and having a centre of gravity.

I cringe when I see people go completely out of control on the dance floor. It should really be quite minimal. Whenever I try to venture out in public, I keep it simple and I would advise others to do the same. Don’t go out of your comfort zone or try moves you haven’t had any tuition in. Dancing, after all, is something you need to learn – even social dancing is a skill. Go for a few lessons, it makes all the difference. No one would think of driving a car without instruction and the same applies here.

Some men are naturally better dancers than others, of course, but everyone has the ability. Learn what you can and can’t do, stick to that and don’t drink too much: having too much confidence when you have no physical ability is a recipe for disaster.

Lord Of The Dance : New school in Prague center to offer Irish dancing classes

A new school devoted solely to Irish dancing will soon open its doors in Prague. Lessons at Luas, Irish for speed, are due to start next month. Ahead of the start of the first course, the school’s director, Tereza Loužecká Bachová, invited all those curious about this dancing style to try it out themselves. She spoke to us before the sample lesson, about Irish dancing and why it fascinates her, and when classes will kick off.

“We are opening in September of this year, on the 13th of September.”

Is there a lot of interest in Irish dancing in the Czech Republic, is it something that people really like?

“I think that the interest is increasing because of the shows Lord of the Dance and Riverdance, and lots of dancers would also like to try this style of dancing, so yes, there is quite a big interest.”
