'Lord of the Dance' comes to MAC

Traditional Irish dances began with the druids, then evolved over thousands of years through the influence of other cultures. But Irish footwork didn’t become an international sensation capable of selling out shows in more than 65 countries until Michael Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance” hit stages.

Perhaps the most famous dance extravaganza of recent memory, the story of love and war — told through dance — is based on Irish folklore and set against a backdrop of traditional and modern Celtic music.

Lord of the Dance goes on stage at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St. $25-$55

Michael Flatley told about Lord Of The Dance 3D me coming to theaters in March.

He encourage, "You have the best seat in the house"

"You're literally right there. You can almost touch the people!"

But be careful they don't kick you in the head with their glad feet.

"3D was built for us and we were built for 3D," Flatley went on.

"And dance is red-hot now.

"I can't go to every city. I'm getting long in the tooth. So I'm glad I've found another way to do it!"

He got me so encourage that I left the restaurant dancing a 3-D jig in the slush.
